The Student Accounts department at the University at Buffalo is seeking a Senior Staff Assistant to handle various reporting duties. The selected candidate will perform a variety of duties to include:

  • Data Custodian
    - Receive and coordinate requests for access to Student Financials information;
    Maintain and monitor security access list for internal/external users; modify role or row access as needed; troubleshoot access issues
  • Create and utilize queries and reports in order to provide data for surveys, ad hoc requests, and departments.
  • Understand and become a subject matter expert of our third party vendor, Nelnet.
    • Troubleshooting issues
    • Configuration
    • Review and analyze reports followed by outreach to payers
    • Testing
  • Train new Student Financials users depending on their role in People Soft
  • Service Indicator (holds) management within People Soft
  • Analysis of holds on accounts in order to make decisions
  • Cross train on key tasks within the office- billing, communications, fee assessment, item type creation, upgrade testing, late fees
  • Assist with website maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, finance, accounting or a related field.
  • Two or more years of related experience in a financial setting (i.e. billing, collections, accounting, financial aid, finance, or budget).
  • Proven ability to work in an environment controlled by federal, state, and/or institutional guidelines.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft office software, particularly Excel and Access applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with People Soft
  • Reporting and query knowledge
