Position: PROGRAM COORDINATOR I (PART-TIME) (DALLAS COUNTY, AL)

PROGRAM COORDINATOR I (PART-TIME) – Dallas County, AL

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, seeks a part‑time Program Coordinator I to support the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center Office of Community Outreach Engagement by coordinating and supporting Community Health Advisors (CHAs) at the county level. The position focuses on cancer prevention and control through community outreach, education, engagement and referral to services such as cancer screenings, HPV vaccination and Quitline referrals.

Work location: Dallas County, AL. The coordinator will primarily be based in the assigned county/counties with regular community‑based work and may occasionally work at UAB or partner sites.

General Responsibilities
  • Coordinate administrative, personnel and logistical support for the department program under general supervision.
  • Carry out established program objectives and directives.
  • Determine the best approach to accomplish assignments.
  • Communicate with internal and external constituencies using a variety of media.
  • Assist with adherence to program budget and/or other fiscal duties.
  • Assist with grant and contract preparation and submission.
Key

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Recruit, train, and support CHAs within assigned county or counties.
  • Plan and facilitate monthly CHA meetings and coordinate community outreach activities.
  • Monitor CHA activities and provide technical and logistical support.
  • Partner with community organizations to deliver cancer prevention education and resources.
  • Facilitate referrals to cancer screening services, HPV vaccination, Quitline and related support services, including follow‑up.
  • Meet referral expectations (minimum of 5 new cancer screening referrals per month).
  • Enter and manage program data in REDCap.
  • Submit incentive requests and provide administrative and programmatic support to COE.
  • Provide research and recruitment support as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience.
  • Hard skills: community outreach, public health, social services, or health education experience; data entry and reporting (REDCap or similar systems preferred); experience coordinating community programs or volunteers.
  • Soft skills:

    strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills; cultural humility; excellent organization, time management and communication skills; self‑starter capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Preferred experience:

    social work or community outreach background; ability to work 20 hours/week with flexible schedule.
  • Physical requirements:

    ability to walk 1 mile/day, stand 2 hours/day occasionally, lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
Hourly Range

$15.00 – $21.95 per hour.

Work Schedule

Part‑time, approximately 20 hours per week with flexibility to meet community needs.

Travel Requirements

Local travel within assigned counties and surrounding areas; some evening and occasional weekend work required for community events and outreach activities.
