Farm Mechanization Specialist - Equipment Maintenance

Our client is seeking a skilled Farm Mechanization Specialist to manage the maintenance, repair, and optimal utilization of agricultural machinery and equipment for their extensive operations near Upington. This role is crucial for ensuring all farm equipment is in excellent working condition, minimizing downtime, and maximizing operational efficiency. You will diagnose mechanical issues, perform repairs, and oversee preventative maintenance programs, working closely with farm managers and operators.

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of agricultural machinery, including tractors, harvesters, and implements.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all farm equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues affecting machinery performance.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and consumables, ensuring availability for timely repairs.
• Advise farm managers on equipment suitability, upgrades, and efficient operational practices.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair work is documented accurately.

• Trade Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Machinery, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in maintaining and repairing agricultural machinery.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems in heavy equipment.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
