Overview
Discover a more connected career at VCI Construction. As an Estimator I, you will develop and maintain strong relationships with VCI’s current customers as well as develop new business relationships. Complete and assemble bids for private and public dry utility construction projects with various values. VCI is an underground and aerial contractor that specializes in full-service installation of “dry” utilities, including design, installation and maintenance of voice, video, and data transmission systems.

- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and investigate project sites.
- Review and understand all bid documents, including plans and specifications.
- Conduct accurate material take-offs and request quotes from subcontractors and vendors.
- Estimate labor and equipment resources required for jobs.
- Coordinate subcontractors and negotiate purchase orders.
- Review final bids with senior management.
- Assist with permits, licenses, and prepare project submittals.
- Develop and coordinate production tracking and prepare project schedules.
- Manage project turnover meetings, foreman s packs, and change order tracking.
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- 5 to 7 years’ experience in underground dry utility pipeline construction
- Knowledge and experience in Bid2
Win (B2W) is a plus - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project)
- Valid California Driver’s License
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in written and oral form (bilingual in Spanish is a plus)
- Demonstrates ability to learn quickly and adapt by acquiring new skills
- Ability to apply logical thinking to solve problems and make decisions
- Willingness to perform work that supports the company s values, quality, goals and objectives
- Experience in development and construction of other telecom/data infrastructures domestically or abroad is a plus
The wage range for Estimator I is $75,000 - $90,000.
