Candidate will teach courses in Painting, Drawing, Water media, Printmaking:
Screen, Relief, Lithography, and Intaglio, and upper level Exhibition and Thesis courses. Additional responsibilities also include involvement in student advising, faculty meetings, and active participation in departmental activities, shows and events.
MFA in Painting or related field is required. Professional teaching experience expected. Successful candidates must be maintaining a professional studio and be actively showing their work. Candidates must be well versed in current studio practice and theory. Extensive experience in Painting and Drawing required. Additional Printmaking experience preferred. Successful candidates must be strongly aligned with the University mission.
Skills and Competencies
* Excellent teaching and communication skills in classroom instruction and art critique.
* Significant expertise in Painting: both oil and water media.
* Significant expertise in Drawing and working with other dry media.
* Expertise in Printmaking:
Screen, Relief, Lithography, and Intaglio
* Expertise in current studio practice, art theory, and a firm understanding of the art market and career options for art graduates.
The Taylor University Art Program is dynamic, continually striving to produce professional caliber artists, designers, photographers, illustrators, pre-art therapy students, and art educators equipped to impact the 21st century marketplace. The Art Program resides in the 38,000 square foot Modelle Metcalf Visual Arts Center and currently offers five distinct BFA degrees in 2D Studio, 3D Studio, Design, Illustration, and Photography as well as BA degrees in each of these fields.
Furthermore, the program offers a BA/BS in Art Education, a BA degree in Pre-Art Therapy, as well as minors in Art History and Photography.
