The Department of Communication invites applications for a full-time Communication faculty position. The successful candidate will teach foundational courses in communication as well as advise and mentor undergraduate students.

This position is primarily responsible to:

* Testify to personal experience of salvation in Jesus Christ, affirm belief in the University's Statement of Faith, abide by and practice our Life Together Covenant, and both personally agree with and support the Foundational Documents of Taylor University.

* Teach the foundational core/general education course in the Department, Integrative Communication, which is a combination of interpersonal, public speaking, and group/team content, with opportunities to develop other courses relating to the department's goals as available.

* Required:

An MA or at least 18 graduate hours of study in a communication-related discipline.

* Preferred: A PhD or MA in Communication or Communication-related area.

* Candidate should have strong communication skills, leadership potential, team-building sills and a proven track record of
1) teaching effectiveness,
2) collegiality and
3) service. Real world practical experience is a plus.

* Quality teaching with some college teaching experience is desirable.

* Specialization in the following areas of teaching is desirable: organizational, interpersonal, rhetoric, communication, education, or media/technology.

The Communication Department consists of six full-time faculty, and one full-time program assistant serving approximately 100 majors, including Professional Writing, Communication, Public Relations, and Multimedia Journalism.

Particular theoretical emphases include inquiry-based learning, group dynamics, media literacy, and strategic design. Scholarly interests among current faculty include interpersonal communication, communication theory, semiotics, rhetoric, social media strategy and effects, emotional intelligence, service learning and the integration of faith and communication.
