The Upper Arlington Division of Police is currently building an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer. Eligibility Lists, upon approval of the Upper Arlington Civil Service Commission, are valid for a period of one (1) year with a possible extension of an additional year. As part of the hiring process, City of Upper Arlington will be accepting applications from October 1st - 31st, 2025 for anticipated hire date of April 2026.
An invitation-only Physical Ability Test will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2025. This is a mandatory part of the hiring process so please plan accordingly.

The candidate must successfully complete, or have completed, a Basic Peace Officer Training Academy selected by the Chief of Police and approved by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council.
Selection ProcessThe police officer selection process (which takes approximately two months) consists of eight individual steps. A candidate is required to successfully complete each step of the process before being placed on the final eligibility list.
- Possess an acceptable driving record. (Charges of Driving Under Suspension (DUS), Driving Under the Influence (DUI), and/or Hit Skip may result in disqualification.)
- Not been convicted of or admitted to the commission of a felony.
- Not been convicted of or admitted to domestic-related crimes of violence.
- Not use drugs or have been convicted of a drug-related violation.
- Not exhibit antisocial behavior.
- Not have numerous financial debts and/or delinquencies.
