Videographer - College of Fine and Applied Arts Job Summary
To serve as a video producer and editor for the creation of digital content for web, social media, alumni engagement, student recruitment, and advancement for the Office of Marketing and Communications in the College of Fine and Applied Arts. This position will work directly with Assistant Dean and support the team, coordinating the production of various digital communication assets, including videos, webinars, and social media content.
The videographer will hire, train, and supervise student videographers for production video services. This position will research, plan, develop, manage, curate, and measure all video related informational, promotional, and brand content for the College of Fine and Applied Arts.
Coordination
- Maintain production equipment.
- Research and coordinate interviews with faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications staff to reflect goals for digital marketing strategy.
- Assist with the development of interview questions and scripts.
- Hire, train, and supervise a crew of student workers in video production and post-production.
Production
- Capture, create, edit authentic digital visual content (videos, photo essays) that tell stories that highlight the FAA brand.
- Film interviews, events, lectures, b-roll as needed.
- Lead video production shoots.
- Create fully edited and formatted videos for use on multiple platforms and channels.
- Organize and archive footage with appropriate data details and permissions.
Bachelor’s degree in film/video production, cinematography, radio and television, documentary film production, photojournalism, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field to the position.
One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in areas including non-linear video editing, motion graphics, video lighting and composition, camera operation, video production, or a closely related professional area.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of trends in the industry, techniques and principles of camera operations, staging, lighting, audio recording and formatting of studio and location video shoots.
- Knowledge of various video production and editing software programs.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and the latest trends and best practices for multimedia applications.
- Skilled in producing high-quality video content for various outlets, copywriting, and editing.
- Effective communication skills.
- Skilled in time management, organizing work assignments, and responding quickly and effectively to challenges.
- Ability to supervise both people and projects.
- Ability to produce and create exciting audio-visual content.
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5014 - Cinematographer/Creative Video Producer position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 10/12/2026. The previously determined salary range for this position is $60,000 - 65,000 with final salary determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
This position is eligible for work authorization, except for sponsorship of a new H1B petition that would incur the $100,000 fee.
