The College of Media at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks applicants to fill one or more Adjunct Facultypositions. These positions are non-tenure track and will be between 0 to 49% time, depending on department needs. Successful applicants will become part ofthe College's adjunct pool, which means that they are eligible to be hired toteach assigned courses in the fall or spring semesters.
Not all individuals inthe pool will be hired to teach in a given semester. Departments will reach outon a semester-by-semester basis contingent on teaching needs.
General Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses for the Department of Advertising,the Department of Journalism, or the Department of Media & Cinema Studiesin one or more instructional modalities (on campus, online, or hybrid),mentoring and overseeing Graduate Teaching Assistants (if relevant), and meeting with instructors of other sections when appropriate. Teachingresponsibilities include course preparation, instruction, grading and studentsupport.
Teaching Areas:
Adjunct Instructors may be assigned to teach courses related to sports media, digitalstorytelling, social media, consumer insights, film criticism, news editing and reporting, portfolios, advertising technology, film & TV, public relations,branding, global advertising, interactive media and gaming, and mediaentrepreneurship to first-year students through seniors. The successful candidates will demonstrate a track record of excellence in teaching and/or significant professional experience in the content area.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in a field related to the course(s) to betaught. Professional experience in a field related to the course(s) to betaught. Bachelor's degrees will be considered if accompanied by significant professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Five years of combined teaching and professional experience in a field relevant to the intended field of instruction. Merit-based exceptions to this qualification will be considered.
Appointment Information
This is a part-time Academic position to be appointed on anas needed basis. The expected start date is Fall 2026. The budgeted salary forthese positions is $8500 for each 3-4 credit hour course; taught in the 16-weeksemester or one of the two 8-week terms; to be negotiated based on percentageof appointment. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
Thefinal salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment ofthese elements. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
