Assistant Professor – Department of Accountancy
Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana‑Champaign is inviting applications for tenure‑track faculty positions in its highly ranked Department of Accountancy. The Department seeks outstanding candidates at the rank of assistant professor in any area of accountancy teaching and research. Appointments will begin in Summer or Fall 2026. These are full‑time academic positions.
The Department of Accountancy offers a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Master of Accounting Science, Master of Science in Accountancy (available both in‑person and online), and a PhD in Accountancy. Renowned for its leadership in data analytics education, the Department is home to the University of Illinois‑Deloitte Foundation Center for Business Analytics, which develops and disseminates cutting‑edge analytics curricula to faculty, students, and professionals worldwide.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities- Teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Conduct research in accountancy appropriate for a tenure‑track assistant professor.
- Demonstrate teaching effectiveness and leadership potential.
- Contribute to the Department's reputation for curricular innovation and inclusivity.
- PhD in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong research record and demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
- Leadership potential that aligns with the rank of assistant professor.
This is a 100% full‑time academic position, appointed on a 12‑month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 7/17/2026. The budgeted salary range is $250,000 to $260,000. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, rank, and experience while considering internal equity.
