KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work under the general direction of the Principal or Assistant Principals, helping students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible adults.
- Demonstrate effective preparation for instruction, applying staff development and professional literature to design instruction.
- Plan use of a variety of teaching materials, demonstrating knowledge of the subject matter and effective lesson implementation.
- Provide for individual differences in learning styles and abilities and use appropriate assessment methods to measure student achievement.
- Evaluate assessment results for attainment of desired standards, and use results appropriately for instructional decision-making.
- Provide consistent feedback to students and parents regarding achievement, establishing a culture for learning.
- Organize the instructional environment and procedures to encourage learning, manage student behavior constructively, and demonstrate positive relationships with staff, parents, administration, and community.
- Demonstrate professional work habits and development, following district and state policies.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Some teachers may serve as course team leaders, members of a 9th‑ or 10th‑grade community team, and/or supervise at a hall duty station.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, with required licensure and endorsements.
- Valid Illinois Teaching License with appropriate endorsement(s) to teach high school students in the required discipline/content area (Professional Educator License or Educator License with Stipulations for CTE or CTEP).
- If filling the COOP role, a COOP Certificate is required.
- Bilingual candidates are preferred but not required.
- 2‑3 years of high‑school teaching experience (new college graduates exempt).
REQUIRED LICENSES/ CREDENTIALS: Holds a valid Illinois Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement(s) to teach high‑school students in the required discipline/content area.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT- Salary and benefits available on the Human Resources webpage; opportunities for additional compensation (stipends, differentials, extra duty pay, etc.) during the school year and summer.
- This position is within the collective bargaining unit, not an administrative or exempt position.
- Students contact days and other days stipulated on the work calendar per the collective bargaining agreement.
EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on the evaluation of professional personnel.
