Job Description

Title: 21st Century CCLC / TP Reading Rally Coordinator

Location: Thomas Paine Elementary

Supervisor: Director of Grant‑Based Programs and Building Principal(s)

Job Summary: The 21st CCLC/Reading Rally coordinator is responsible for the overall workings of the before- and after‑school program. The coordinator plans and prepares the program, oversees and hires staff, supervises daily operations and the students (grades 2‑5), within the parameters established by funding and school district procedures. A high level of energy, creativity, and willingness to work hours outside the school day are required.

Essential

Functions
  • Coordinate and implement the grant‑based after‑school program in accordance with district and grant policies.
  • Assist the administrative team in planning, designing the program, and maintaining communication with stakeholders.
  • Engage staff to develop instructional and assessment practices linking the school day curriculum with the extended day program.
  • Work with staff to outreach and actively engage students and families in the program.
  • Facilitate the development and selection of project‑based interactive enrichment programming focused on College and Career Awareness.
  • Develop procedures and policies for operation of the after‑school program.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff, plan staff schedules, review timesheets, submit stipend requests, and arrange substitute coverage.
  • Maintain student enrollment records, schedules, and all necessary documentation.
  • Meet regularly with extended‑day staff, facilitate orientation trainings, and staff development activities.
  • Work with community contractual partners to plan and implement program components; facilitate partner orientation.
  • Collaborate with school district partners (Building Principal, Mentor/Volunteer Coordinator, Classroom Teachers, Social Worker, Family Liaison) to integrate program components.
  • Promote and market information about the after‑school program to students, parents, and the community.
  • Maintain and reconcile budget documentation; report to the administrative team in a timely fashion.
  • Meet deadlines, follow protocol, complete required reports and grant documentation.
  • Assist in collecting data for the evaluation team; collaborate to report findings.
  • Manage program logistics (assign rooms, manage materials and resources).
  • Initiate and meet all responsibilities promptly.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (required);
    Master’s preferred.
  • Administrative endorsement or equivalent desired.

Experience:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to plan, design, and implement a grant program.
  • Experience coordinating programs.
  • Experience in education, recreation, and/or grant management.
  • Experience working with community organizations.
  • Experience in bilingual education desired.
  • Must be a current USD #116 employee.

Other

Skills and Abilities:

  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Ability to manage both daytime and extended‑day duties.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to make decisions and exercise independent judgment regarding student conduct.
  • Leadership ability in all areas of program administration, instruction, and assessment.
  • Experience maintaining fiscal records, collecting data, and meeting reporting requirements.
Terms of Employment
  • Hourly position, with a $1,500 planning stipend; contingent on continuation of grant funding.
  • Typical program hours: 7:00‑8:00 am and 3:00‑6:00 pm, Monday‑Thursday (subject to building location).
  • Coordinators must be available for session hours and additional time to prepare and coordinate the program.
  • Must be a current USD #116 employee.

Note: This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated according to the Board’s policy on evaluation of support personnel.
