The mission of the University of Illinois Alumni Association (hereinafter, “UIAA”) is to enhance and advance the relationship between the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (hereinafter, the “University”) and all its alumni; to inspire lifelong loyalty and pride among alumni and friends by strengthening their relationship with the University; and to educate the public about the value of the University and its alumni.

The objectives of this Association are educational and charitable. The Association functions as an advocate for the alumni and the University by informing interested parties of current issues, events, and accomplishments of alumni and the University. In fulfilling its mission, the Association may provide a variety of services to the University and its alumni.

About Our Organization Structure

The UIAA is a 501c3 corporation, and the UIAA President reports directly to the UIAA Board of Directors ("Board"), in addition to maintaining an ongoing dialogue with the University’s Chancellor. All other staff report directly or indirectly to the President.

About This Role

The Exhibits Coordinator develops, monitors, and maintains physical and digital exhibits in the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s interactive heritage museum, the Richmond Family Welcome Gallery at Alice Campbell Alumni Center. The Welcome Gallery features exhibits on more than 130 topics about the U. of I.’s past, present, and future, and the Exhibits Coordinator collaborates with the Welcome Gallery’s Curator and Collections Manager to create new exhibits, serves as a specialist for the Welcome Gallery’s audiovisual media, and ensures that guests have an educational and entertaining visitor experience.

This will be a hybrid role, reporting to Alice Campbell Alumni Center in Urbana, IL, four days per week and working remotely one day per week. However, in specific situations it may be necessary for the Exhibits Coordinator to report to the Alice Campbell Alumni Center on remote workdays (for example, to fix a malfunctioning exhibit).

TYPICAL DELIVERABLES EXPECTED

  • Prepares weekly reports on Welcome Gallery audiovisual media operations.
  • Provides weekly updates on exhibits preparation work and promotion, including audio and video editing, updates to digital exhibits, social media content creation, and Welcome Gallery tours.
  • Provides monthly updates on Welcome Gallery expenses and annual assistance in formulating the Welcome Gallery’s budget.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Minimum two years of related experience.
  • Proficiency with photo, video, and audio editing software.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Preferred:
    • Knowledge of current computer hardware and software, audiovisual equipment and programs, and media production.
    • Prior experience producing and maintaining interactive visual media.
    • Prior experience building physical exhibit mounts
EDUCATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Preferably a degree in museum studies, library and information science, media/communications, the humanities, or related areas.
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after August 19, 2026. Salary range is $55,000 to $60,000.
