Specialized Faculty - Lecturers and Instructors

The Department of Curriculum & Instruction, in the College of Education, at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, seeks faculty who are interested in future, part-time Lecturer and Instructor positions to help teach existing courses throughout the year. This is not a full-time position, but rather an effort to identify qualified candidates who may be invited to teach future courses. Courses in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction may be taught face-to-face or online.

High-needs areas of instruction include early childhood education, trauma-informed education, STEM learning, language & literacy, social studies teaching, technology, and teacher education. For a full list of programs offered please visit .

Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate or graduate level Curriculum & Instruction courses.
• Mentor and oversee Graduate Teaching Assistants when appropriate.
• Meet with instructors of other sections when appropriate.

Minimum Requirements:

• Master's degree in education or related field for an Instructor title; or PhD in education or related field for the Lecturer title.
• Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience or relevant field experience.

Preferred Requirements:

• Teacher licensure.
• Ability to teach in high needs areas of instruction.
• Experience teaching in higher education settings.
• Experience teaching online courses if you wish to teach an online section.

Salary and appointment information:

These positions will be filled each semester based on course enrollments and teaching needs for the department. These positions are hired between zero and 100% time and will not include benefits. Part-time faculty lecturers and instructors are hired to teach at $1,550 per credit hour for each course taught. Courses range from 1-4 credit hours. The expected start date is January 16, 2027, or as soon as possible thereafter.
