Energy Advisor II

Overview

Champaign County Regional Planning Commission (RPC) seeks an Energy Advisor II for its Community Services division. The role involves conducting residential energy assessments, developing and implementing energy‑efficiency and weatherization projects, and ensuring program compliance while coordinating with contractors, utility stakeholders, and community partners.

• Conduct residential energy assessments for Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program participants.
• Provide energy education to clients and install energy‑saving measures such as LED bulbs, faucet aerators, shower heads, and smart thermostats.
• Perform energy‑efficiency and safety testing, and develop detailed project plans.
• Complete and submit program documentation for project development.
• Participate in outreach and awareness‑raising activities.
• Maintain equipment inventory and manage logistical requirements for program implementation.
• Work independently with minimal supervision, traveling within Champaign County and Central Illinois as needed.

• Completion of IHWAP Training and Certification Program.
• Agency-specific certifications or ability to obtain them within 90 days of hire.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the service area.
• Strong communication, customer service, and English proficiency.
• Spanish fluency desirable.
• Knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and data‑reporting tools.
• Background check clearance.
• Physical ability to lift approximately 40 lbs., climb stairs and ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Flexible scheduling to accommodate special projects.

Full‑time position, 37.5 hours per week (8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday‑Friday). Hourly wage: $25.77. Benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, retirement plan, and access to high‑quality programming and a supportive work environment.
