The Aerospace Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) organization is responsible to partner with Engineering, Program Management and Integrated Supply Chain (Operations/factory) to drive New Product Development (NPD) initiatives into Aerospace lighting products.
This position will work with design engineering on new product designs in the field of aircraft lighting to ensure the product meets design to cost and design for manufacturability and testability targets prior to entry into full production.
Product must also meet the required manufacturing level at each of the Integrated Product Delivery System (IPDS) Phase Exit reviews.
The position works closely with Sourcing to ensure that suppliers are ready for production. Additionally, the successful candidate will identify and track capital, develop manufacturing and capacity plans, prepare trade studies, maintain NPD scorecards, plan and support development builds in the factory and at sub-tier suppliers, lead failure analysis and problem resolution teams, identify manufacturing risks and develop risk reduction plans.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to prepare data and presentations and present to customers and management. Excellent leadership skills are required to influence and drive other functions to achieve results. Multi-tasking, organization and project management skills required.
Reports directly to the AME NPD Engineering Manager and indirectly to the program manager on the project.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Masters degree preferred.
- Min. of 2 years of experience in project engineering and/or manufacturing engineering preferred.
- Computer skills such as PowerPoint, Excel, Access and scheduling tolls required.
