Associate Engineer. Performs a variety of engineering work including design, analysis, substantiation, certification, drawing interpretation and project management as related to transport category aircraft.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Create step-by-step work instructions for the repairs and deviations of hardware and components as they relate to aircraft structures, systems, interiors and avionics.
  • Create engineering installations and repair drawings using AutoCAD or similar software programs.
  • Repair, design and analysis of metal, composite and metal-bond structures.
  • Translate guidance and engineering principles and procedures into usable working direction for assigned projects.
  • Gather, coordinate and apply basic engineering data using established and appropriate or defined engineering principles and procedures.
  • Apply area of specialty to design, develop and implement creative and innovative solutions to difficult problems.
  • Review progress with management and recommend corrective action along with review of alternatives.
  • Perform such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct; ensure adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • All other duties as assigned.
What you will need to be successful in this role
  • BS Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical preferred) or extensive experience and training in their respective area of expertise to be determined equivalent.
  • Two or more years of engineering experience.
  • Understanding of standard engineering drawing convention.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs – from Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations) as they apply to transport category aircraft.
  • Familiarity with the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process and the FAA Airworthiness Directive (AD) process and rules governing disposition.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, preferably those created by Boeing, Airbus and Douglas and be familiar with the documents needed to routinely maintain commercial aircraft;
    Structural Repair Manual (SRM), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), etc.
  • Ability to analyze Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) source documents (Service Bulletins, Service Letters, etc.) and make independent decisions based on analysis of available data regarding incorporation on Customer’s fleet.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adhere to Operator’s specific processes and procedures.
  • Project Management skills; multi-tasking.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $56,500 to $70,000 annually. This range reflects the base salary for candidates who meet the requirements of the role, including experience, education, and location. AAR offers a competitive benefits package, including medical/dental/vision/life and AD&D insurance, 401(k) savings plan with employer match, paid time off and holiday pay, as well as opportunities for professional development and growth.
