JCW is working with a leading international insurance firm that is looking to hire a Senior Audit Manager to join their growing U.S. Internal Audit team in the Greater Chicago area. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established global organization and play a key role in strengthening governance, risk management, and control frameworks across a complex insurance business.
The position offers significant exposure to senior leadership and global stakeholders, along with the opportunity to lead high-impact audits across underwriting, claims, operations, and corporate functions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and execute risk-based audits across underwriting, claims, finance, operations, and corporate functions.
- Assess the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls in line with regulatory and SOX requirements (where applicable).
- Identify emerging risks and provide actionable recommendations to enhance business processes and controls.
- Manage audit engagements end-to-end, including planning, fieldwork, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
- Partner with business leaders to provide strategic insight and serve as a trusted advisor.
- Mentor and develop junior audit team members, supporting talent development within the function.
- 8+ years of internal audit or public accounting experience within insurance or broader financial services.
- Strong understanding of insurance operations, including underwriting, claims, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience leading audit engagements and managing stakeholder relationships.
- Familiarity with SOX, model governance, or IT controls is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- CPA, CIA, or other relevant certifications preferred.
