Financial Reporting, Financial Manager, Financial Analyst, CFO
Unique opportunity for an experienced CFO. This part‑time CFO role allows you to stay involved in accounting while making a difference in your community.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, manage and report on all accounting and finance activities, including financial statements, cash management, budgets, forecasts and financial analysis.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data and prepare comprehensive financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee all segments of the general accounting function, including general and subsidiary ledgers.
- Coordinate and prepare the annual operating budget, capital budget, short‑ and long‑range project budgets.
- Institute and maintain budget control procedures.
- Complete budget analysis and report on variances.
- Provide guidance and input during the strategic planning process.
- Prepare and ensure accuracy of financial statements, including balance sheets, income and cash‑flow statements.
- Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes.
- Facilitate timely completion of the annual independent audit, tax filings (990) and related reports, verifying accuracy and completeness.
- Properly classify restricted donations and accurately track and account for grant/restricted funds.
- Lead procurement of fixed assets and capital in collaboration with other departments.
- Oversee awards (federal, state, local) and report accordingly to IDHS, Feeding America and other required agencies.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws related to 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.
- Maintain files of contracts, leases, and other legal documents.
- Participate in special events and attend conferences as needed.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Part‑time)
Skills- Previous CFO or accountant experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a complex environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong leadership ability, sound judgment and high professional ethics.
Bachelor’s degree.
Experience4–7 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and non‑profit experience; CPA preferred.
- Prior non‑profit experience a plus.
- Knowledge of practices and principles of financial, accounting and business management.
- Strong computer skills, including spreadsheets and data management.
- Ability to analyze financial data and develop reports.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex rules and regulations.
