Job SummaryServes as the institutional owner and operational steward of McKinley Health Center's electronic health record system while supporting data-driven assessment, reporting, and strategic planning.
Duties & Responsibilities- Training, Knowledge Management, and Process Improvement:
Develop, maintain, and deliver comprehensive training programs for all McKinley Health Center staff related to all EHR products, clinical workflows, referral processes, and etc.; serve as the primary trainer for new employees and provide ongoing training for existing staff; create, maintain, and update training materials including written guides, videos, workflow maps, and reference documents; build and manage a centralized digital training library so staff have consistent access to current procedures and best practices;
identify opportunities to improve clinical, administrative, and system workflows through data analysis, staff feedback, and direct observation; design and implement new or improved processes to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and improve patient experience; lead process improvement initiatives and coordinate changes with clinical staff, leadership, and IT; monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of new workflows and training programs; ensure the EHR supports accurate clinical documentation, referrals, and continuity of care;
partner with providers, nursing, and medical records to validate workflows; ensure HIPAA, FERPA, and regulatory compliance. - Health Information Systems Leadership:
Serve as McKinley’s primary product owner for all EHR systems (Medicat One, Rcopia, QS/1, Exa PACS/KONICA Minolta, Harvest/Orchard); translate clinical, administrative, and regulatory needs into system configuration, workflows, and data structures; oversee system updates, testing, and deployment; monitor data integrity, system performance, and user adoption; act as McKinley’s primary liaison to the Medicat One’s support team for system configuration, issue resolution, upgrades, and enhancement requests. - Assessment, Reporting and Analytics:
Compile, clean, manage, and analyze clinical, operational, and utilization data to support leadership decision-making; develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations for McKinley leadership; support strategic planning, goal tracking, and annual reporting for McKinley Health Center.
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
- Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience in health information in a health care facility or program.
- Based on institutional requirements, a current/valid registration and certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and/or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field.
- Experience working with data systems, dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Experience with data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools including Microsoft Excel and Tableau.
- Experience creating written procedures, workflow documentation, and training materials.
- Experience with Medicat One or similar EHR systems.
- Experience supporting assessment, and process improvement in a healthcare facility.
