The Library is essential to the intellectual vitality of the University and attracts talented students, faculty, and scholars to the Urbana-Champaign campus. With more than 15 million volumes, it is one of the world’s great research libraries and renowned for the depth and breadth of its collections. The Library is central to the University’s mission of teaching, research, and public service, and it is one campus unit that serves all academic disciplines.
The Library is looking for a Manager of Workstation and Network Support (WNS) who gets excited about providing excellent customer service, enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues, and encourages professional growth of staff. WNS manages approximately 1200 endpoints; a variety of printers, scanners, and other networked devices; digital signs;
Mersive Solstice devices; nearly 40 network subnets; thousands of ports; and over 20 technology enhanced spaces.
FUNCTION: The Manager of Workstation and Network Support leads a group of professional and hourly staff who are responsible for hardware procurement, endpoint management, software deployment to endpoints, unit network configuration and access, audio-video solutions, and printing across a geographically distributed University Library system. The team ensures security standards are implemented, service management best practices are used, and the workstation, network, and AV needs of the Library’s faculty and staff are met.
