Job Summary
AITS Admin provides leadership, coordination, guidance, and support for IT infrastructure, facilities, and resiliency capabilities that enable the enterprise systems and services delivered by AITS. The primary liaison between AITS, university data center management, service providers, vendors, and other stakeholders, the role ensures that infrastructure and hosting requirements are met. It serves as the AITS representative in data center governance, operational, and planning groups across the universities, coordinating communications related to infrastructure projects, maintenance, outages, equipment installations, and technology lifecycle initiatives.
Work closely with Administration, Financial Management, purchasing, vendors, and technical teams to plan, coordinate, and support data center and infrastructure projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource coordination, and stakeholder communications. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
- Coordinate with university data center management personnel and service providers to ensure that the data center hosting needs for AITS are met.
- Represent AITS in data center governance, operations, and working groups across the universities.
- Provide communication and coordination between AITS and data center management groups regarding outages, upgrades, installation, and removal of AITS equipment.
- Work with auditors and AITS personnel as needed to satisfy requests and needs of internal and external audits.
- Manage large data center projects and those related to IT infrastructure.
- Work with AITS Administration and Financial Management, trades, vendors, and purchasing on data center-related projects; coordinate work including communications, scheduling, and assembling budgetary information for such projects.
- Maintain the Disaster Recovery (DR), Business Continuity Plan (BCP), and emergency management plans to ensure they are current and meet the needs of AITS and System Office, including generating and maintaining electronic and physical copies of the DR plan.
- Develop and execute the DR and BCP program, including tabletop exercises, system recovery prioritization, training sessions for staff, plan revisions, annual DR tests, and reconciliation of plans with operations reports and inventory.
- Serve as primary lead for maintaining the AITS BCP plan.
- Manage IT operations projects following PMO processes and procedures and collaborate with the PMO on methodology for IT Operations and data center projects.
- Communicate the desired direction, goals, concerns, and issues of the Director of Infrastructure, Cloud Architecture, and Assurance as needed in various settings, and provide leadership on special projects for senior AITS and System Office leadership.
- At least 5 years (60 months) of relevant experience, combining the following categories:
- College coursework in Information Technology, IT Management, Programming, IT Systems, or a closely related discipline (conversion table applied: 30 semester hours equals 1 year, 60 semester hours equals 1.5 years, 90 semester hours equals 2 years, 120 semester hours equals 3 years).
- Work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or a closely related field, including supervisory or lead roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of advanced technical experience within higher education.
- Proven work experience in IT project management.
- Demonstrated skills in planning and execution of disaster recovery and data center services for large, complex, and rapidly changing organizations.
- Working knowledge of IT infrastructure principles and components, including servers, networking, storage systems, and data center facilities.
- Commitment to maintaining high-level customer service standards and fostering that commitment in the team.
