Multi-Site Manufacturing Platform | Chicago, IL or Birmingham, AL
We are conducting a confidential search for a Senior Director of Environmental Health & Safety on behalf of a well-established, multi-site North American manufacturing organization.
This executive-level role will lead enterprise EHS strategy across multiple U.S. and Canadian facilities, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. The mandate is to elevate safety performance, strengthen environmental compliance, and build a more disciplined, prevention-driven EHS infrastructure across the platform.
Key Responsibilities- Lead enterprise-wide environmental, health, and safety strategy across a multi-site manufacturing footprint
- Oversee environmental compliance, permitting, and remediation efforts, including active site-level initiatives
- Drive measurable reduction in recordable and lost-time injuries through structured systems and root‑cause discipline
- Develop and formalize a scalable EHS Management System (policies, audits, training, KPI dashboards)
- Serve as the primary interface with regulatory agencies and executive leadership
- Establish consistent standards and accountability across plant leadership teams
- 10+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience within multi‑site manufacturing or industrial environments
- Demonstrated environmental depth, including regulatory engagement and remediation oversight
- Proven track record of reducing injury rates through disciplined systems and leading indicators
- Experience building and professionalizing EHS governance, reporting, and training programs
- Executive presence and the ability to influence plant leadership without direct authority
This role requires a highly visible, hands‑on leader who can operate effectively both on the manufacturing floor and in the boardroom.
Location: Chicago, IL or Birmingham, AL
Travel: Approximately 40%, with strong on‑site presence required
