Job Title: General Laborer

Shift: Guardian West currently has opening on 3rd shift (11 pm-7 am). The shift is 8 hours; overtime up to 10-12 hours may be required. Two 10-minute breaks and a 20-minute meal break are provided.

Pay Rate: Starting at $20.25 per hour ($20.75 after 3 months).

• Standing continuously on cement floor with intermittent walking to move bumpers or retrieve attachments;
• Wash bumpers on tables/stands (~42-inch height) or in floor racks;
• Retrieve bumpers from racks ranging from floor to 6 feet in height and carry them to assembly stations;
• Attach nuts, brackets, lights, wiring and plastic components to the bumper. Requires repetitive wrist and hand motion and fine motor coordination to manipulate nuts, washers; forceful pinching to fasten clips;
• Use a 12-pound nut runner at 4-foot height for fastening nuts. Hammer bumper attachments with a rubber mallet;
• For cells 473 and 610, a manipulator on a hoist assists with lifting and placing assembled bumper into floor racks. The manipulator is operated with two hands and thumb controls on handles. Assemblers push and pull on handles to maneuver the manipulator into place. When placing bumpers into the top position on a floor rack with the manipulator, assemblers’ hands are at a height of 6 feet while holding onto handles;
• Bumpers 473 and 610 are also manually lifted (weight up to 63.5 pounds);
• Push/pull racks of bumpers (up to 25 pounds of force);
• Move bumpers from one assembly station to the next as the line progresses. Requires repetitive gripping, lifting and maneuvering of bumpers. In some areas bumpers are moved with one person and in others with two people.
• Target rate of production is 500 bumpers per 8-hour shift on the DS line, the fastest production line;
• Positions within the assembly cells are rotated up to every 2 hours;
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lb.;
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time;
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push, pull, reach and lift above head and below shoulder level;
• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles; occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration; environment usually loud.

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED;
• Ability to speak, read and understand English;
• Ability to work in a drug-free workplace and pass a drug screen.
