Materials Planner/Inventory Control Clerk Urbana, IL - Onsite 6 month contract

Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and material within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedules.

Essential Functions
  • Reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules.
  • Conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates.
  • Compiling reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and productions problems.
  • Assist other departments with walk-up situations.
  • Receive and count stock items and record data manually or using computer.
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stock cage.
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner.
  • Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
  • Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
  • Prepare for annual audit; assist with accounting during inventory.
  • Assist Shipping & Receiving as needed.
Essential Functions
  • Master and continue to perform essential function of Inventory Control Clerk role.
  • Establish and maintain high quality standards within department.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of Inventory Control personnel.
  • Purchase orders for projects.
  • Verify inventory counts.
  • Track and receive parts.
  • Manage part allocations to projects.
  • Organize and conduct annual inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Cutting and prioritizing work orders.
  • Determine proper quantities for creation of work orders and purchase orders for project resources allocations.
  • Maintaining low inventory dollars and keeping accurate inventory counts.
  • Verify inventory compilations by comparing them to physical stock counts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Communicate with Purchasing to resolve problems with materials.
  • Communicate with Machine Shop to ensure raw materials allocation.

    Planning and scheduling workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Planning sequence of assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
  • Determines the status of assigned projects, expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Prepare for annual inventory.
  • Master and continue to perform essential functions of planner role.
  • Train, assist, and mentor other team members.
  • Review the work of other team members.
  • Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan and review work activities to resolve production problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • 1-5 years
