Paint Loader/Unloader
Starting Pay Rate: $20.75 (after 3 months $21.50)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, with mandatory overtime as needed
Reports To: Paint Manager
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Paint Loader/Unloader to join our team. This role is primarily responsible for loading parts onto racks for them to be painted, checking for imperfections, and unloading racks. The work requires both strength and dexterity, especially for tasks like loading and unloading heavy components, changing racks, and performing detailed work like grinding imperfections.
Responsibilities- Loads unpainted brackets weighing 0.35 to 8 pounds from 48‑inch deep baskets into wheeled carts, pushes them to racks and hangs onto racks to be painted.
- Loads bumper shells up to 36 pounds onto racks to be painted and off of racks once the painting process is completed.
- Moves components into carts and pushes or pulls carts to the next area; push/pull force up to 42 pounds.
- Repetitive reaching, gripping, and handling of bumper components and bending required.
- May need to change racks during shift; requires a 2‑3 person lift for the heaviest racks weighing up to 312 pounds.
- Details metal imperfections in bumpers using a hand grinder; works at a 38‑inch high table.
- Shift is 8 hours; may work overtime up to 10‑12 hours.
- Two 10‑minute breaks and a 20‑minute meal break; employees are paid for the entire time they are clocked in and do not clock out for breaks, if taken on campus.
- Color vision: ability to perceive a wide range of colors accurately and distinguish minimal variations.
- English communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of health and safety compliance training programs and departmental work instructions written in English.
- Experience using basic hand tools such as wrenches and pliers.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Lift and carry 5‑gallon buckets (up to 58 lbs) for mixing, from floor to 60 inches and up to 50 feet in distance, handling 6‑10 buckets per shift. Move 500‑pound barrels using a cart. Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach above head and below shoulder level. Ability to work in a non‑climate‑controlled environment.
Work EnvironmentRepresentative of conditions typical for a manufacturing facility. Guardian West is not a climate‑controlled facility. Safety precautions must always be followed to reduce exposure to hazards. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and loud environments. Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
