Description:
Provides and facilitates competent health care for patients and families.
Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.
Provides health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students.
Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes.
Administers medication via various routes including IM, PO, Rectal, IV, SQ, and Inhaled.
Performs procedures such as Ear washes, Nebulizer Treatments, Peak Flows, Splint Applications, Crutch Training, and Wound Care.
Conducts Point of Care Testing, IV starts and therapy, Vision Screenings, EKG, Catheterizations, and Suture/Staple removal.
Assists providers with procedures such as vaginal exams, suture and staple placement, and incision and drainage.
Serves as a member of the Code Team when needed.
Acts as Nurse Lead when assigned during a shift.
Precepts new employees.
Performs patient education.
Conducts waiting room and exam room rounding.
Collects and processes specimens.
Provides patients with written instructions regarding procedures, medications, or follow-up instructions per provider direction.
Assists with prescription medication refills following department protocols.
Calls medications into pharmacies, notifies patients of refills, and documents actions within the EMR per provider orders.
Maintains department-specific competencies related to point of care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.
Cleans instruments.
Rooms patients by collecting pertinent information regarding the chief complaint, vital signs, and medication reconciliation.
Conducts telephone triage and necessary communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and other healthcare facilities.
Communicates test results to patients via phone and online.
