Registered Nurse – NICU

Licensure & Certifications:
Active IL RN License
BLS (AHA) required
NRP (AHA) required

Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required
BSN preferred

Qualifications:
Minimum 2–3 years of NICU experience in Level 3–4 settings
Experience in Trauma 1 care and EPIC documentation system
Knowledge of nursing care, patient assessment, nursing interventions, care planning, and patient care procedures
Ability to provide breastfeeding support and baby-friendly care
Strong communication skills and ability to offer constructive feedback
Ability to administer medications using proper bar code scanning
Responsible for patient and employee safety, including reporting and correcting hazards
Participation in departmental competencies and professional development initiatives

Assignment Type & Schedule:
Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Weekend rotation: 5 shifts per 6-week schedule
Holiday rotation: every other holiday

Provides nursing care for neonatal patients in a Level 3–4 NICU setting. Completes assessments, develops and implements individualized care plans, and modifies interventions as needed.

Responsibilities Include:

- Monitor intake and output of neonatal patients - Assist mothers with breastfeeding initiation and baby-friendly care - Administer medications safely using bar code scanning - Document nursing care and provide reports during multidisciplinary rounds - Ensure patient and staff safety - Offer constructive feedback and participate in professional development initiatives - Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care
