Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Orthopedics

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Orthopedic Inpatient (Med/Surg) position in Urbana, IL, requiring a minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, Epic proficiency, and Level 1 Trauma background.

Job Details

• Inpatient orthopedic unit within a hospital setting,

• Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week),

• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week period,

• Rotating holiday coverage required,

• No on-call responsibilities,

• Floating to similar units required,

• Patient population includes orthopedic and medical/surgical patients,

• Procedures include ortho traction setup, surgical traction device manipulation, and wound appliance management (wound vacs, drains, pouches, urological devices),

• Epic EMR experience required,

Job Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted),

• BLS certification (American Heart Association),

• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience,

• Level 1 Trauma experience required,

• Epic charting experience required,

• ASN required; BSN preferred,

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position,

Additional Information

• Assess orthopedic and medical/surgical patients each shift and develop individualized plans of care,

• Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs,

• Coordinate with physician and surgeon partners on patient care,

• Delegate and monitor interventions performed by HCT staff,

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date nursing documentation to support the broader healthcare team,

• RTO is not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract,

• Contingent workers may not remain on continuous assignment at this health system for more than 1 year; a 6-month break in service is required before returning to any location within the health system,
