Overview

The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care via the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the institution's philosophy. Interventional Radiology encompasses three specialties—Radiology, Vascular Surgery, and Neuro Intervention—and performs C‑arm guided procedures. The Interventional Radiology nurses are a key part of our comprehensive stroke team.

Registered Nurses work closely with members of the Prep/Recovery and Procedure Lab staff to facilitate excellent patient care. Staff can expect a stimulating workflow that is engaging throughout the day. The HVI offers opportunities for personal and professional growth, flexible staffing options (cross‑training, job sharing, minimal on‑call shifts), MD Lecture series (including free CEUs), mentoring programs, and educational events with various equipment and training.

Qualifications
  • BLS within 30 days – American Heart Association
  • ACLS within 1 year – American Heart Association
  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
  • PALS within 1 year – American Heart Association
  • College Diploma:
    Nursing (Required)
Responsibilities
  • Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up‑to‑date and accurate documentation of nursing care.
  • Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies plan based on continuous evaluation.
  • Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
  • Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge.
  • Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions.
  • Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.
  • Evaluates and enhances nursing practice by utilizing the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope and Standards of Practice to provide direct 1:1 patient care to adults undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Administers moderate sedation and other medications in a safe manner by following Carle Policies.
  • Performs hemodynamic monitoring, identifies potential life‑threatening arrhythmias, and implements appropriate clinical treatment.
  • Collaborates with patients and families to answer questions and provide emotional support.
  • Enhances patient care activities and acts as a safety advocate through participation in ongoing department quality improvement and evidence‑based practice projects.
  • Coordinates safe care delivery through effective communication with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Recognizes and adapts to potential changes in procedures while responding to emergent situations.
  • Participates in a fun, supportive, collaborative environment while working as part of a cohesive 3‑4 staff team comprised of RNs and Radiology Technologists.
  • Administers medications necessary for procedure.
  • Manages care of patients during moderate sedation.
  • Monitors hemodynamics throughout procedure.
  • Provides documentation of procedure events.
  • Understands use of supplies and equipment used in various procedures.
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $35.87 per hour – $58.37 per hour. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will depend on experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
