Carle Health is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our growing Critical Care team at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.
Responsibilities- Work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and resident physicians.
- Provide care in critical care settings such as trauma, neuro, medical/surgical, and cardiovascular ICUs.
- Assist with hospital codes in partnership with Critical Care physicians and the code team.
- Obtain independent credentialing in ICU procedures—including PICC placement, arterial line, central lines, intubation, paracentesis, and chest tube placement.
- Participate in management of complex critically ill patients with multi‑organ dysfunction, poly trauma, traumatic brain injury, complex stroke, and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
- Support management of patients receiving CRRT/CVVH and targeted temperature management.
- Participate in monthly Critical Care Team morbidity and mortality meetings and in cardiovascular ICU and CCU RN education/training.
- Maintain timely and compliant documentation; demonstrate medical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical competence, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, and professional development and competency validation.
- Master's degree with an acute care specialty preferred; FNP considered with prior ICU provider experience.
- Physician Assistant with prior ICU experience.
- 1–2 years of advanced practice provider experience preferred.
- Consideration for nursing ICU/ED experience.
- Current Illinois registered nurse license and advanced practice nurse or physician assistant licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Completion of all continuing education, including NIH Stroke Scale certification and stroke education required for providers at a Comprehensive Stroke Center.
- Access to growing organizational research opportunities.
- Membership on Quality and Practice Committees within the Critical Care Service and the organization.
- Use of a state‑of‑the‑art simulation laboratory for procedural training.

CompensationThe compensation range for this position is $60.72–$78.94 per hour. Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model. Carle Health offers a comprehensive benefits package for team members and providers.
