Position: LPN - Cardiovascular (Inpatient)

Overview

When the unit is full, the LPN will work with RNs with the highest acuity or will be paired with an RN who has a heavy patient load. When the UNL has patients, the LPN will be paired with the UNL to assist with the UNL patient load. LPN tasks may include oral medications, IV piggyback medications, trach care, dressing changes, and documentation on assessments and care plans after the RN has completed the initial assessment and initiated the care plan.

Qualifications
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • College diploma in Nursing (required)
  • More than one year of LPN work experience
Responsibilities
  • Pass all medications and hang IV piggybacks and fluids, excluding IV push medications
  • Chart assessments on assigned patients after the RN has charted the initial assessment
  • Chart on care plans that the RN has opened; if necessary, have the RN open new care plans
  • Communicate with physicians and advanced practice providers to receive orders and coordinate patient care
  • Perform dressing changes as needed
  • Perform trach care as needed
  • Insert and maintain NG tubes and feedings through NG tubes
  • Provide care for and change ostomies
  • Reinforce education and discharge instructions
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $25.73 per hour to $41.87 per hour. This range represents the good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
