American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Surgical unit position requiring at least one year of relevant nursing experience and an active Illinois RN license.

• Work in a Surgical unit caring for a complex post-operative patient population
• Provides post-operative care including tracheostomy monitoring, wound and wound vac management, and ostomy care
• Uses Epic charting system
• Night shift schedule of 7:00p-7:30a on three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• Weekend commitment of 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis
• No floating requirements
• No on-call responsibilities

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Experience with tracheostomy care, wound and wound vac management, and ostomy care
• Skilled in patient and family education
• Experience collaborating with surgical residency services

• Serve as the primary caregiver for an assigned group of surgical patients, applying the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate care
• Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient and family needs
• Collaborate closely with general surgical and OMFS residency services
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation to support continuity of care
• Report and correct safety hazards to ensure patient and staff safety
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• RTO may not exceed 7 total days during the 13-week contract
• Workers may not remain on assignment at this health system for more than one year without a 6-month break in service before returning
