American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Ortho Inpatient position requiring at least one year of nursing experience and an active Illinois RN license.

• Inpatient orthopedics and medical/surgical unit setting
• Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 3 days per week (36 hours)
• Requires 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Floating to similar units required
• Utilizes Epic charting system
• Level 1 Trauma center environment

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Experience with ortho traction, surgical traction devices, wound care, wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to ortho and medical/surgical patients including assessment, care planning, and intervention every shift
• Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
• Coordinate with physicians and surgeons on patient care plans
• Delegate and monitor interventions performed by HCT staff
• Set up and manage ortho traction and surgical traction devices for mobility and wound care
• Support professional development of peers and maintain accurate nursing documentation
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the position
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Candidates who have worked continuously for the health system for more than 1 year must take a 6-month break before returning
