American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Orthopedic Med/Surg unit requiring Level 1 Trauma experience and Epic charting proficiency.

• Inpatient Orthopedic and Med/Surg unit within a Level 1 Trauma hospital
• Day shift schedule, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, 3x12-hour shifts per week
• 36 hours per week
• 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• No on-call requirements
• Float to similar units as needed
• Uses Epic EMR

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with medication management, care transition planning, delegation, wound appliance management, and surgical traction device setup and manipulation

• Assess ortho and medical/surgical patients each shift and develop individualized plans of care
• Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
• Coordinate patient care with physicians and surgeons
• Delegate and monitor interventions performed by HCT staff
• Set up traction devices and manage wound appliances such as wound vacs, drains, and pouches
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Workers may not be continuously on assignment at this health system for more than one year without a 6-month break in service
