Open Rank Faculty in Veterinary Anesthesia and Pain Management

Full-time, 100% (12-month basis)

The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine (VCM), invites applications for full-time (12-month) open-rank faculty position in Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia. The successful applicant will join a vibrant group of three Anesthesia faculty members (three ACVAA Diplomates and one board-eligible faculty), four house officers and twelve highly-trained anesthesia nurses who focus on perioperative care.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree (VMD, BVSc) and have completed a residency designed to achieved board certification in American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA) or European College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA).

Duties:
The anesthesia service at Illinois provides support to nearly every other specialty within the small and large animal veterinary teaching hospitals. The successful candidate will be expected to provide clinical service in veterinary anesthesia and pain management, contribute to clinical instruction of residents, interns, veterinary and graduate students, and communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and referring veterinarians. Teaching responsibilities will also include didactic, small group and laboratory instruction.

The successful applicant will be expected to participate in relevant research projects. Those interested in collaborative research will find abundant opportunities to collaborate within the College of Veterinary Medicine, and with the engineering based college of medicine, as well as with investigators in other units at the University of Illinois and externally. Percent time dedicated to teaching, scholarly activities, and clinical service will be based on the successful candidate's appointment title.

Salary:
The budgeted salary range for this position is $140,000 to $170,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable positions.
