Associate Professor, Clinical Imaging Research - CFH

Overview

The Stephens Family Clinical Research Institute of the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL is building the Carle Clinical Imaging Research Program (CCIRP). The position is for an Assistant or Associate Professor. The role includes primary appointment at Carle and possible academic appointments in Illinois departments and the Beckman Institute.

• Work experience:
  
  Currently in a university faculty role with major external grant(s) in a relevant area.
• Education:
  
  PhD in Chemistry, Engineering, a related field, Physics, or Biomedical Science.
• Expertise in medical imaging and MRI procedures and protocols.
• Demonstrated record of success in scientific research (peer‑reviewed publications).
• Outstanding communication skills (scientific writing, verbal, interpersonal).
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary investigators.
• Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team with members at varied experience levels.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements in a clinical setting.
• Efficient organizational and time‑management skills.
• Attention to detail; critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Commitment to service and clinical impact of work.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with multiple deadlines.

• Conceptualize, design, and lead translational and clinical research projects involving 7T MRI.
• Write protocols for IRB‑approved research studies; acquire and analyze research data.
• Present research at national and international scientific conferences.
• Author or co‑author manuscripts and publish scientific papers in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Maintain familiarity with research literature.
• Foster relationships and collaborate with internal and external researchers.
• Provide service to the institution through teaching, mentoring, committee service, etc.
• Provide service to the profession via manuscript review, grant review, and service to scientific organizations.
• Supervise fellows and students.
• Establish an independent, externally funded research program.
• Provide written progress reports to department supervisor, mentoring committee, and funding agencies.
• Train students and fellows in biomedical research methods, and in acquisition and analysis of imaging data.

The compensation range is $63.59 per hour to $109.37 per hour, representing a good‑faith minimum and maximum range for the role. The actual compensation offered will depend on experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
