Overview
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. is seeking an experienced Sales Account Manager in the Chicagoland area. The role is residence based with a preferred location in the Chicago suburbs. This position focuses on selling liquid and bulk products across markets such as Food/Beverage, Metals Processing, Pharmaceuticals, and Chemicals.
Responsibilities- Existing customer account management, managing customer relationships, customer value creation, wallet share growth, and profit management
- New business development: selling portfolio of products, equipment and services to amenable markets including new-to-market and competitive account prospects
- Consistent field presence and prospecting with high daily call activity; direct marketing follow-up
- Collaborate with Product Manager and broader customer‑facing organization (Commercial Technology Reps., Customer Engineering, Microbulk Sales Reps, Gen Gas Business Development Managers, etc.)
- Operate effectively in a matrixed organization and collaborate with other sales and marketing professionals within the North Subregion and the broader Air Products organization
- Oversee overnight travel for territory coverage, trade shows, and team meetings
- 4‑year college degree in business, engineering, or equivalent experience with strong technical aptitude
- 3–4 years of proven sales experience, industrial gas experience a plus
- Robust analytical and financial acumen
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Superior presentation skills
- Highly motivated and able to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment with high energy
