Job Summary

Storekeeper II fills orders by selecting, packing, stocking, and staging material. Stock shelves and cages with the appropriate material upon receipt, including wood, sheet metal, and gases. Receives material in Aim and Banner as required. Responsible for UPS ship‑outs of material and product returns for the PPSB and central storeroom. Provides leadership and demonstrates expertise for two or more functional areas (receiving, counters, pick and packing, returns, issuing stock, stocking shelves, and loading and unloading).

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Receives loads, unloads, returns, stores, and/or issues a variety of general items, hazardous items (such as gases), and special‑order items.
  • Issues stock and special orders as requested, accurately fills out and processes paperwork, and obtains appropriate signatures on stock orders and special orders.
  • Checks stock against shipping and authorizations for agreement on quantities, descriptions, sizes, conditions, and conformance to purchase orders.
  • Receives material and special orders in AiM and Banner and verifies code dates as required.
  • Stocks the PPSB Central Storerooms according to established methods.
  • Operates a lift truck and/or forklift efficiently and safely.
  • Marks articles with identifying codes, figures, or letters when required.
  • Records data such as purchase order number, date received, and date issued; follows procedures established by Stores and Receiving for processing purchase orders, stores requisition, and picking tickets.
  • References situations involving major deviations from established methods to a supervisor and makes recommendations for course of action.
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness in adopting store keeping methods to handle items, locate reference material sources, and provides solutions to problems presented.
  • Makes recommendations concerning alignment of services to operating needs.
  • Conducts cyclic, special, and other inventories of bin and bulk locations.
  • Processes UPS returns for special orders and stock orders as required.
  • Counts, weighs, or grades products as appropriate.
  • Coordinates down stock/facing and rotation of products.
  • Performs audits of orders and bin locations.
  • Trains and assists assigned personnel.
  • Provides leadership in work activities of stores personnel and/or student help engaged in performing tasks.
  • Performs equipment checks daily in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Acts as backup for counters, receiving, and stocking storerooms.
  • Checks fire extinguishers each month to ensure safety for Stores personnel.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift over 50 lbs, organize, and place these items in storage for later use.
  • Must spend a large part of the workday on feet on concrete floors.
  • On awkward or heavy items, must not attempt to lift or move without assistance, forklift, hoist, or dollies.
Work Environment

The employee must be able to work in the environment and should not do so when lift rules are not followed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year (12 months) of work experience comparable to that performed at the Storekeeper I level of this series or in other positions of comparable responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Manual/power pallet jacks.
  • Forklifts.
  • Working experience in university storerooms.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge required: working knowledge of materials stocked; ability to interact with customers, vendor representatives, and delivery companies; proficiency with computers, handheld scanners, manual/power pallet jacks, forklifts, aerial work platforms, and overhead crane; pays attention to inventory control issues in receipt and dispensing of materials.
  • Abilities required: lift over 50 lbs; proficiency with computers; experience with manual/power pallet jacks; experience with forklifts.
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full‑time Civil Service 3318 - Storekeeper II position, appointed on a 12‑month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 7/7/2026. The hourly rate for this position is $26.03 per hour. This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization.
