Job Description
Asbestos Building Inspector
to perform field investigations, collect samples, document building materials, and prepare accurate inspection reports.
Responsibilities
- Perform asbestos building inspections for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential properties
- Identify and assess suspect asbestos-containing building materials
- Collect bulk samples using proper sampling and safety procedures
- Develop sampling strategies based on building construction and applicable regulations
- Document sample locations, quantities, material conditions, and homogeneous areas
- Prepare detailed field notes, photographs, drawings, and inspection reports
- Interpret laboratory results and incorporate findings into final reports
- Assist with asbestos abatement project design and scope development
- Conduct contractor oversight and air monitoring when qualified
- Communicate professionally with property owners, contractors, insurance professionals, facility managers, and other
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining accurate documentation and meeting deadlines
Qualifications
- Previous construction inspection experience required
- Ability to obtain applicable state licensing
- Understanding of building construction and renovation practices
- Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Comfortable working in commercial buildings, schools, industrial facilities, mechanical spaces, attics, crawlspaces, and other field environments
Preferred Experience
Experience in environmental services is a significant plus, including:
- Mold and indoor air quality assessments
- Radon testing
- Asbestos air monitoring and project oversight
- Fire, smoke, water damage assessments
