Purpose:
Provide personalized learning that supports each student in achieving their potential. Engages in professional growth and fulfills professional responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible, regularly available, and eager to substitute teach in the classroom.
- Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Demonstrated application of effective instruction, meeting student needs relative to district benchmarks and standards.
- Knowledge of "best practice" in teaching.
- Knowledge of the developmental characteristics of students at the designated grade level.
- Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the Iowa Teaching Standards.
- Knowledge of special education and section 504.
- Knowledge of Federal Rights and Privacy Act and other civil rights regulations.
- Ability to organize and think clearly while communicating, organizing, and evaluating.
- Education:
- Earned Bachelor’s Degree or Board of Educational Examiners approved alternative.
- Certification/Licensure: Appropriate BOEE licensure.
- Experience: Experience teaching preferred.
- Equipment: Office equipment such as computers, two-way radios, multi-line phone system, cell phone, copier, and fax machines.
- Demonstrates effective implementation of the eight Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria as a substitute in UCSD classrooms.
- Demonstrates the ability to enhance academic performance in the classroom.
- Demonstrates competence in content knowledge appropriate to the substitute teaching position.
- Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students.
- Uses a variety of methods to monitor student learning and demonstrates competence in classroom management.
- Maintains a reliable attendance record.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Repetitious bending, lifting, and hand movement.
- Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking.
- Drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free while working.
- Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
- Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.
- Occasional meetings outside the school day.
- Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and hazardous materials and emergency situations.
