Job DescriptionJob Title: Long‑Term Substitute Teacher – 2nd Grade Teacher
Purpose of the Position: Provide personalized learning that supports each student in achieving their potential. Engage in professional growth and fulfill all professional responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible, regularly available, and eager to substitute teach in the classroom.
Qualifications- Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated application of effective instruction, meeting student needs relative to district benchmarks and standards.
- Knowledge of best practice in teaching.
- Understanding of the developmental characteristics of students at the 2nd‑grade level.
- Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the Iowa Teaching Standards.
- Knowledge of special education and Section 504.
- Knowledge of the Federal Rights and Privacy Act and other civil‑rights regulations.
- Ability to organize and think clearly while communicating, organizing, and evaluating.
- Education:
- Earned Bachelor’s Degree or Board of Educational Examiners approved alternative.
- Certification/Licensure:
- Appropriate BOEE licensure.
- Experience:
- Experience teaching preferred.
- Equipment:
- Office equipment such as computers, two‑way radios, multi‑line phone system, cell phone, copier, and fax machines.
- Demonstrate effective implementation of the eight Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria in UCSD classrooms.
- Enhance academic performance in the classroom.
- Maintain competence in content knowledge appropriate to the substitute teaching position.
- Use strategies to deliver instruction that meets multiple learning needs.
- Utilize a variety of methods to monitor student learning and demonstrate competence in classroom management.
- Maintain a reliable attendance record.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements- Repetitive bending, lifting, and hand movement.
- Ability to work while standing, moving, and/or walking.
- Drug, tobacco, and alcohol–free while working.
- Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
- Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.
- Occasional meetings outside the school day.
- Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and hazardous materials and emergency situations.
