Job Description & How to Apply Below
- We’re seeking an entry‑level Reliability Engineer on a long‑term contract to service, maintain, and support complex automation systems in a high‑throughput production environment.
- This hands‑on role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing PLCs, robots, conveyors, VFDs, sensors, pneumatics/hydraulics, and related controls while supporting preventive maintenance and reliability improvements.
- Ideal for early‑career technicians or engineers who prefer contract work and want sustained exposure to automation systems.
- Perform routine and reactive servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of automated production equipment (PLCs, HMIs, industrial robots, conveyors, VFDs, sensors, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, instrumentation).
- Execute and refine preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) tasks; follow and update PM procedures.
- Rapidly diagnose breakdowns, implement corrective actions, and document failures to prevent repeat events.
- Assist in commissioning, calibration, and testing of new or upgraded automation systems under direction.
- Read and interpret electrical/mechanical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and control drawings.
- Use hand tools and electrical test equipment (multimeter, clamp meter, insulation tester, etc.) safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records and equipment history in the CMMS; manage spare parts usage and recommendations.
- Collect failure data to support reliability analyses (FMEA, RCM) and improvement projects.
- Follow all site safety procedures (LOTO, PPE, NFPA 70E awareness as applicable) and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and vendor technicians; elevate issues in a timely manner.
- Relevant technical experience in industrial maintenance, automation, or controls — a degree is not required; equivalent hands‑on experience, technical diploma, or military training is acceptable.
- 0–3 years’ experience (internships and co‑ops count).
- Basic familiarity with PLC platforms (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.), HMIs, and ladder logic concepts.
- Practical experience or coursework with electrical components, motors, sensors, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation, reporting, and CMMS exports.
- Comfortable using diagnostic/test equipment and following electrical/mechanical schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting instincts, excellent verbal and written communication, and proven problem‑solving ability — must be able to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Able to work shifts, overtime, and participate in an on‑call rotation as required.
- Basic PLC programming or logic debugging experience.
- Familiarity with Solid Works CAD software is highly desirable (for reading or preparing simple assembly/installation drawings).
- Some exposure to industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet), VFD setup, and industrial robotics basics (ABB, Fanuc, KUKA).
- Familiarity with CMMS systems (Maximo, SAP PM) and condition monitoring tools (vibration, thermography).
- OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E awareness, or manufacturer‑specific PLC/robotics certifications.
- This position is considered physically demanding. Candidates must be able to:
- Climb ladders and work in and around machinery during installation and servicing.
- Perform elevated work and access tight spaces with proper PPE and training.
- Lift and carry objects up to 60 lbs regularly.
- Stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be a great communicator and problem solver, capable of clearly explaining technical issues and solutions to production, engineering, and vendor teams.
- Comfortable documenting work and handing off tasks during shift changes.
