Duties, Responsibilities & Other- Collaborate with team members to coordinate and complete project elements, including executing project work, producing high‑quality deliverables, and maintaining project schedules.
- Mentor junior staff and assume increasing design responsibilities.
- Design and provide oversight services for DOT, municipal, and private clients in transportation and civil engineering, covering roadway drainage, culvert and bridge hydraulics, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, green infrastructure, and ESD/LID.
- Complete hydrologic and hydraulic computations, reports, and modeling for drainage improvement, watershed evaluation, and floodplain modeling.
- Design and prepare construction drawings for water resources projects—including drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, bridge and culvert replacement.
- Utilize Microsoft Office, Micro Station, Geopak Drainage, and HEC‑RAS.
- Coordinate design development and provide technical direction to junior staff.
- Assist in developing plans, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates within schedule and budget under the supervision of a project engineer or manager.
- Conduct engineering calculations, interpret drawings and specifications, and support proposal preparation.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, demonstrating strong understanding of water resources and civil engineering principles.
- Experience in stormwater management, design of stormwater quantity and quality control measures, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, drainage design, erosion and sediment control design, and watershed modeling.
- Familiarity with hydrologic & hydraulic modeling software such as HEC‑RAS, HY‑8, HEC‑HMS, SWMM.
- Proficiency in Micro Station and Geopak Drainage or comparable CAD software.
- Pre‑employment drug screening is a condition of employment; background and motor‑vehicle checks may be required based on position.
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large projects or engineering programs.
- Supervise subordinate supervisors or team leaders.
- Conduct research in complex scope areas and adapt to varying geographies.
- Serve as a staff specialist, applying advanced theories and concepts.
- Assist in proposals, negotiations, and presentations.
- Collaborate with internal departments for client relationship development.
- Manage work routines, assign job activities, and attend project team meetings.
- Provide task performance reports and coordinate with other practices and sub‑consultants.
- Offer technical oversight, guidance, and serve as task manager for selected projects.
- Mentor and train staff.
- Comply with all KCI policies and procedures.
- Ensure projects meet ISO standards.
- Conduct employee performance appraisals as applicable.
- Develop professional relationships through industry associations and community involvement.
- Support the attraction of talent to KCI.
- Complete tasks on time and within budget while meeting project scope.
- Operate within specified budget parameters.
- Assist with receivables management and budget monitoring with the Project Manager.
- Achieve or exceed budget utilization targets.
- Conduct site visits and gather data.
