Due to growth in the department, we have an exciting opportunity for an Audit & Accounts Assistant Manager / Manager in our Croydon office for TC SWP. Level of responsibility will vary according to experience.
This is a client facing role with opportunity to establish strong relationships across our extensive portfolio of audit clients in the SME sector and comes with excellent prospects for career development.
Key responsibilities- Lead the planning, budgeting, and scheduling of audits.
- Ensure audits are completed within deadlines and budget.
- Supervise audit teams (seniors, associates, trainees).
- Review working papers, testing, and documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and resolve complex issues.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients.
- Maintain strong relationships and manage expectations.
- Mentor and develop junior staff.
- Review draft financial statements and disclosures.
- Manage a portfolio of audit and accounts clients.
- ACA / ACCA Qualified.
- Minimum of 5 years audit experience in an accountancy practice.
- Up to date with current auditing and accounting issues and conversant with relevant auditing and accounting standards, company law etc.
- Good tax knowledge, in particular corporation tax. An awareness of VAT and payroll taxes advantageous.
- Confident with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Analytical skills and attention to detail and ability to think laterally to be capable of identifying potential problems and providing solutions.
- Show initiative, exercise judgement and take ownership of issues from start to finish.
- Experience of working on a wide range of clients (some FCA experience would be beneficial).
- Computer literate including good Excel experience. A working knowledge of Iris and My Work Papers would be an advantage. Experience or knowledge of the Mercia audit methodology would also be helpful.
