The Business Development Manager is responsible for a team of pursuits and bid professionals that enable the development of our business across SEA, enabling strategic pursuits, articulation of Arup’s capability in the bid process focusing on how Arup delivers its unique value proposition, deep technical expertise, and market knowledge to solve the client’s most complex challenges, through to bid management, submission and close out.

Opportunity
  • Works with SEA Business leaders to bring the best of Arup’s experience to our local clients throughout all stages of the pursuits and bidding process, connecting and collaborating with global and regional peers to share best practices, develop and leverage consistent ways to enhance pursuit and bid expertise in the direct team and across the business
  • Play a hands of role in leading early phase engagement such as pursuit strategy development, prepositioning activities for major pursuits and large-scale projects in alignment with business plans
  • Collaborates with counterparts across MCBD (Brand and Creative Services, Region Priority Pursuit and Client Program Managers) to bring the best of Arup to clients and also allocate resources ensuring smooth bid development and delivery process.
  • Oversees the review of proposal, qualifications, interview prep materials delivered by the wider pursuit team ensuring strong quality control that leads to impactful pursuit outcomes.
  • Leads a team of pursuit and bid professionals with the aim of growing and expanding Arup’s pipeline of work and bringing the best of Arup’s experience to SEA clients

Is this role right for you?
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, architecture, business management, sales, marketing and/or postgraduate professional qualification in marketing.
  • At least 10 years experience in planning, executing and winning strategic pursuits
  • Experience with large-scale prime proposal development and knowledge of current work winning processes, practices and norms within the AEC industry or similar.
  • Significant experience in strategic pursuits and bids in Energy, Water and/or Transport industry sectors highly regarded.
  • Experience spanning multiple geographies /countries across SEA is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading high performing pursuits and bid teams
  • Ability to guide market-facing activities including the development of capability statements, brochures and interview pitch decks
  • Strong skills in strategic thinking and analysis and problem-solving
  • Confident, self-motivated, independent, and proactive
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
