Overview
The Technology, Design, and Technical Education (TDTE) department at Utah State University (USU) seeks a candidate for the Moab Campus. This unit in the coming academic year will be rebranded as the School of Professional and Technical Education (SPTE). This position is a full-time, academic-year (9-month), non-tenure-track term lecturer position in the Nursing Assistant program to support the health professions of rural Utah.
The appointment is 95% teaching and 5% service. It is anticipated that the individual selected for this faculty position will start in August of 2026. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction. As part of USU’s land-grant mission to make academic programs accessible throughout the state, this position will be based at the USU Moab campus in Moab, Utah.
The successful candidate will support high-quality nurse assisting education by preparing students for entry-level nurse assisting through competency-based instruction aligned with Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR) standards, state and federal regulations, and program outcomes. Instruction is delivered according to program schedules, and enrollment is maintained in compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities- Acts under the general supervision of the Health Professions Program Supervisor.
- Ensures that the program is conducted in accordance with all federal regulations, state rules, and UNAR policy.
- Maintains accurate documentation of student attendance and skill development.
- Ensures that the approved Utah Nursing Assistant Registry Nursing Assistant Curriculum guides classroom instruction.
- Maintains the classroom and lab to UNAR standards.
- Orders and maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Works with CTE Pathway Programs to recruit Students into the Nursing Assistant program classes.
- Ensures that every student whose name is completed has met all completion requirements.
- Teach additional health professions courses as assigned, in accordance with Utah System of Higher Education Instructional Workload Guidelines.
- Performs other related duties as requested by the Health Professions Program Supervisor and the office of the UNAR.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a licensed registered nurse (RN) with a minimum of two years of nursing experience; at least one year must be in the provision of long-term care facility services or caring for the elderly or the chronically ill of any age.
- Must be a reasonable candidate for approval by UNAR. UNAR approval requires the following:
- Completion of UNAR Instructor approval packet.
- Licensed nurse in good standing with the Utah Department of Professional Licensure.
- A resume showing 2 years of nursing experience; explicitly detailing at least 1 year of experience in the provision of long-term care facility services or caring for the elderly or chronically ill of any age.
- Must have completed a UNAR-approved “Train the Trainer” program or demonstrated competence to teach adult learners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Prior teaching, clinical instruction, or precepting experience.
- Experience working with nurse assisting students.
- Familiarity with UNAR standards and regulatory compliance.
