Overview
Beaver County is hiring 3 Ameri Corps STEM Specialists for the upcoming school year 2026‑2027 at Belknap Elementary, Milford Elementary & Minersville Elementary.
ScheduleAmeri Corps STEM Specialist will spend about 12‑15 hours each week assisting with hands‑on, informal STEM education of the Boys & Girls Club. Approximately Monday through Thursday from 2‑6 PM, from mid‑August 2026 to end of May 2027.
Stipend and Education AwardLiving allowance of $4,800 paid over each term of service, split bi‑weekly. Additionally, an Education Award of $1,565.08 upon successful completion.
Key Responsibilities- Lead STEM lessons during the time allocated each week
- Maintain records of lesson plans and track data for the number of students served
- Complete weekly timesheets and a monthly report
- Evaluate progress of youth served using surveys & rubrics
- Build positive relationships with youth, families, school staff, and teammates
- Promote and stimulate program participation
- Provide guidance and role modeling to members
- Encourage participation in a variety of program areas/activities and provide constructive feedback
- Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety, and development of members
- Implement and administer programs, services, and activities for all members and visitors
- Monitor and evaluate program services and activities
- Oversee member safety, program quality, and appearance of the organization at all times
- Supervise and ensure safety during indoor and outdoor activities (rain or shine)
- Participate in weekly organization staff meetings
- May participate in special programs and/or events
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and all grant‑required training
- 18+ years of age
- United States citizen or legal permanent resident
- High school diploma or GED
- Meet the requirements set by the Corporation for National and Community Service
- Experience working with children
- Knowledge of youth development
- Motivated to work with youth and manage behavior problems
- Ability to work with school and general public
- Plan and implement quality programs for youth
- Organize and supervise members in a safe environment
- CPR and First Aid Certifications may be required
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Preference given to individuals with educational or work experience related to science, technology, engineering, math, teaching, and/or education
