A position has been declared open in Weber School District for a part‑time Special Education Life Skills Para educator for 5.75 hours per day, 180 days per year. Compensation is according to Lane 4(B) of the Paraprofessionals Salary Schedule. This position is funded, in full or in part, through grant allocations or enrollment‑based funding sources. Employment is guaranteed through the current school year, and continuation beyond that period is contingent upon the availability of future funding.

Job Responsibilities:
- Adapts classroom work under the direction of the teacher to support and reinforce lesson plans.
- Assists other personnel as required to support their work activities.
- Implements instructional behavioral programs under the teacher’s supervision to improve students’ academic success.
- Assists in maintaining students’ files/records to document activities and provide reliable information.
- Monitors individual students in the classroom, library, playground, etc., to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Performs record‑keeping and clerical functions (e.g., scheduling, copying) to support the teacher and/or administrator.
- Assists with daily living skills (e.g., toileting, changing diapers, feeding, personal hygiene) to demonstrate skills and provide needed care.
- Adapts to changing work priorities, displays tact and courtesy, meets deadlines and schedules, sets priorities, and works with detailed information/data.
- Regular attendance at work is critical.
Qualifications and Basic
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to maintain various postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and sitting in student‑size chairs) for extended periods.
- Must safely manage physically or verbally aggressive students.
- Must participate with students in physical fitness activities (walking, stretching, aerobic exercise).
- Must lift occasionally up to 60 lbs. to a height of 36 inches and frequently up to 25 lbs. to a height of 36 inches.
- Must sanitize and clean equipment (work boxes, exercise equipment, walkers, wheelchairs, etc.).
- Must remain calm and follow safety procedures in emergency situations.
- Must walk with students to bus stops in inclement weather.
- Must be willing to participate in and utilize MANDT training.
- May require working with biohazards (blood‑borne pathogens, human waste, cleaning/disinfecting materials, etc.).
