Part Time Level II/Level I Special Education Paraprofessional – Escalante Valley Elementary School
About the RoleEscalante Valley Elementary School is seeking a part‑time Level II/Level I special education paraprofessional to work 27.5 hours per week beginning in August. This position will remain open until filled.
Under the direction of the special education teacher, the paraprofessional will provide education and related services to students with disabilities. Responsibilities include lifting and supporting students, changing protective clothing, implementing behavior management plans, operating adaptive equipment, and communicating effectively with students and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provides instructional support assistance to students and student groups to reinforce and follow up learning activity.
- Assists in observing and recording behavior patterns and follows appropriate techniques to reinforce acceptable behavior.
- Assists certified educators with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercise.
- Assists in responsibility for procedures related to physical and medical needs.
- May be asked to assist students in learning self‑care techniques including toilet training, bathing, personal cleanliness, diapering, feeding, and other self‑help skills.
- Participates in the development, maintenance, and carrying out of systems for classroom management.
- Guides students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students.
- Supervises students in all areas of the school.
- Operates various types of office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.
- Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance is required.
- Monitors students inside and outside of the building during lunch hour.
- Must have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Google Docs and check email frequently. Must be willing to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed.
Experience providing instructional and support services for students with disabilities is preferred. A strong ability to communicate, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to behavior management plans is essential.
Working Conditions- Work hours:
27.5 hours per week, beginning in August. - Location:
Escalante Valley Elementary School. - Position will remain open until filled.
